New Pincushion

Needing to work on some wool so I started a new pincushion.

Three thousand miles later, a successful and overwhelming Fall Market in Houston is behind us. We had visitors from Spain, Brazil, Korea, Austrailia, Belgium, and France. Even though it was satisfying making many new friends it was the visit from old friends that we enjoyed the most. Now, I am not saying they were "old", just our wonderful previous acquaintances.  We are amazed at all of the help and encouragement we have received from other quilters. It feels good to have our work validated. Life is good!

Picking Apples

Every Fall my mother would visit a local apple orchard. There she would pick a variety of apples. There would be apples for eating fresh, apples that would be made into applesauce, and apples for pie and crisp. We would hurry home from school to the aroma of cinnamon and apples cooking. After finding the perfect apple to eat we’d head out to do our farm chores.

Did you know the Johnny Appleseed was not just a legend? He was a real man. He was born John Chapman and was a skilled pioneer nursery man. He traveled around the country spreading his precious trees. Wouldn’t he be pleased about the many varieties we enjoy today? Honey Crisp apples are my favorite!
