I went for a visit with Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings a few weeks ago.. I started laughing because she had designed a wheel barrow just like the one I was planning on making for this Mystery Quilt.. her design was so dang cute! I made her help me design another block since she had an earlier release date.. here is what we came up with!

Hi Friends!

Quilt St. George is happening! There are still a few available spots for Lisa Bongean's classes  and plenty of availability at her trunk show. I am allowing non-registered customers to come to the Trunk show Thursday night for a $10 fee.. You can either go on the website and pay for it there or pay at the door.

I've been in southern California this week sewing with my girlfriends. It has been such a blast.

Spring Market came and went.. we had a great time visiting with old and some new friends! 

I've been busy since arriving home. I have been making kits for

Oh.. not that I let any grass grow under my feet... I bought The Quilt St. George Retreat!

Snuggle Cakes ..name patterns win a prize!

This is my newest published pattern called "Snuggle Cakes" It is made using layer cakes and added fabric. I made 3 of them for family and friends. Krystal (step daughter-in-law) is holding it in my backyard for the picture

I love this new line of fabric called "Christmas Gatherings" by Primitive Gatherings. I haven't figured out a name for this quilt... I'll try and get another picture when the quilt is done. If any of you out there in blog land have an idea for a name please let me know... it could win you a FABULOUS prize!

I started starching my fabrics with spray starch... it really does make a difference in your piecing!

In February Krystal and I went on a cruise with Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings and Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin... We had such a blast! Can't wait to do it again!!!

Off to the quilter... new pattern coming!

I've been doing a little decoration painting.. I painted the "wash" sign for my laundry room... yep the room is bright orange and I love it!

Happy Everything! Christmas! New Year! The Works!

My Kids got married as many of you know I took Robert in to our home through his High School years. Geoff has a "foster" "other" "real" brother. Krystal his new wife is the best! She goes with me to all the trade shows. She knows my patterns and is so strong and helpful. Tiny but "mighty". I love them all. Picture from left to right Geoff, Jeremiah, Krystal, Robert and Darren. Love having these kids around!

 In November, Rhonda McCray and I went to "Primitive Gatherings" retreat in Temecula, CA for 3 days! OMG it was a blast. We stayed in a Nunnery and it was quite sparse. Those Nuns really didn't have or should we say  didn't need much. The food was wonderful and it was beautiful. We met so many new and wonderful friends! We can't wait until next year! Lisa Bongean is a super teacher and we made fun projects.. I need to find the pictures for the projects. I think many of them are coming out in her new book "Christmas Gatherings"  

 There are wineries all over... I didn't know that Temecula was wine country... That made me a happy girl! I bought a few bottles and brought them home for Christmas. 

After the retreat I stayed and sewed with Rhonda at her studio. She is the owner of Farmhouse Threads. She is so talented and inspiring! 

I made 3 of these quilts while I was away. I am currently writing the pattern They were Christmas presents. I love working with "Wool & Needle Flannels". 

 Here is Rhonda working on her projects! I told her to smile.. she isn't fond of having her picture..be she is so cute and nice!

 I bought myself two Christmas gifts this year... this is a light from Lumino.. I saw it on Shark Tank and had to have one. I love it! It is really bright and I tought it would work well in hotel rooms where they are alway too dark. It folds like a small book and is easy to carry.

 My other Christmas gift to myself was a "Juki 2010" sewing machine. It is a work-horse! It stitches so fast it almost scares you! It has needle down position, thread cutter, and just does straight stitching. I can tell my piecing is going to go much faster and I seem to be more accurate. This is a great purchase! 

I went to my girlfriend Louise's house for Christmas. This is her husband Kenny and he doesn't let dogs in his house. Well.. love me love my dog. Louise made and executive decision that my dogs were invited in the house to be with all of us on Christmas!. We all thought it would "tip" Kenny over but he did great! That goodness the dogs were well behaved! 

This is the first project made using my new Juki 2010. I will be teaching this in San Diego at the Quilt Show! Please come and take the class and have some fun with us!!!

I've been busy the last couple of weeks with new designs and working on making a few kits. I am teaching this quilt in Page, Arizona this week. Page is a beautiful place right close to Lake Powell. You can find details about the retreat here: Lake Powell Quilters 

The quilt above is called "Rustic Star". I make it a few years ago and it is one of my favorites.

Then on back home to St. George for two days then to Salt Lake City, UT to meet the movers to load up my household contents to finalize the move the St. George. Crazy life I know but I do love it!

Mystery Block and Giveaway!

Hi Friends!

Yes, I know today is the blog hop and I'm going to post my block and all the info... but first let me show you what has been going on at my house! 

The quilt in this picture with the red yard ties was made by my grandmother. She used old clothing and left over fabrics from her sewing. Grandma Bessie was a wonderful seamstress and would re-make clothing. This quilt a treasure to me.. she lived to be 93. Sorry the picture doesn't do it justice. I'm going to reproduce this quilt someday. I love it just that much!

 Here are my puppies taking their afternoon naps. They have been to the groomers and came home with "candy corn" scarves.. they are so adorable.. I just love them!

Remember the blocks I showed you on the last blog? Well here is what the finished block is going to look like...what do you think? I'm having so much fun with it.

Life is good...

Are you following the Christmas Blog Hop???

 Rhonda from Farmhouse Threads has organized and it started on Oct. 3rd. She said her kits are flying off the shelves... her design is so cute! My block is finished and I will get to reveal it on Oct. 24th. Make sure to look at my previous blog to see all the designers involved. 

I've been doing a little (bunches!) of organizing. This is a picture of the closet in my sewing room. Why is it closets are never big enough? This one is filled to the top. I have lots more storage bins in the garage full of fabric. I believe that one can never have too much fabric. I remember when my mother was alive she told me "Joyce, I bet you have a thousand dollars worth of fabric there"... LOL oh if she only knew. Mom didn't sew. But she was right I did have a thousand dollars worth of fabric..and maybe a bit more.

After organizing my closet I decided it was time to start a new quilt project. I love half-square triangles. I can't wait to show you all what's coming next in this design.. any ideas?

I went to Utah Quilt Fest and had a wonderful time. This is a quilt I designed called "Aunt Sarah Jane" my good friend and part sister Krisanne Watkins was given this quilt from the Quilt Guild Board. It was her gift for being a Past-President of the Quilt Guild. 

Okay friends I have now blogged twice in the last few weeks.. Life is good!

I know it's been a long time since I have blogged. I love running into you at events and shows. I wish I had a good excuse for not blogging but when asked about it I say "I don't know.  Life gets in the way sometimes." I enjoy reading blogs.   Yes.  I'm a bit of a "lurker".

My girlfriend Rhonda McCray of Farmhouse Threads approached me to be in her Christmas Mystery Blog Hop.  Now that's a way to get me blogging.  We are going to have lots of fun and there are wonderful designers involved. I feel privileged to be invited to design.

I want you to know that I am here. It's been so long since I blogged that I am having trouble getting my pictures to load.  Dang it all! I'm going to keep trying because our blog hop starts on Saturday Oct. 3rd and I don't want you to miss it!
