Patriotic July

"Land That I Love" is the name of this pattern.  I made this quilt quite awhile ago but it is one of my favorites. With July right around the corner I'm excited to get out some Patriotic decorations and enjoy the warm sunshine.

The two blocks shown above are made from my Dad's shirts. I found about 30 blue shirts and I am working on a new quilt. I thought you might like to see a preview. What do you think? I am going to be putting alternate blocks with these blocks.  I have been enjoying working with dad's shirts. It is like he is in my sewing room with me.

The last few weeks have been crazy around here. I put in for retirement from United Airlines (that was a bit scary after working there so long). Woo Hoo! It is time to have fun and devote my time to being "Geoff's Mom" pattern designer, company owner, and, of course, Geoff's mom.
I am also going to be moving. I get to be a "snowbird" and I can hardly wait. House hunting soon. I have to finish cleaning out my dad's house and sell it but that process seems to be moving right along. I am so grateful to have such wonderful supportive friends and family helping me.

I love the shirt blocks! I've been meaning to do something with old shirts for ages, but haven't found the time just yet--can't wait to see your progress.

I know exactly what you mean about making the shirt blocks, I've had the very same experience. Good luck on your new adventures!
