We have a winner!

This is a picture I  received this morning  from my dog sitter. I miss my puppies,  but not the snow!

Linda is our winner....
Love all your patterns and this one is no different~ Merry Christmas!!

I hope everyone  had  a wonderful holiday!

I'm  at my new home in St. George, Utah it is so beautiful  here and no snow. I couldn't  bring my puppies  with me because I don't have a  fenced yard yet.

I had hiatal hernia surgery on Dec. 23rd and I didn't  get out of the hospital until Christmas  day. We decided to skip the holiday this year. Geoff has been a wonderful nurse, plus he's a great cook. His garlic  mashed potatoes and gravy are the best!!

I'm  typing  this on my tablet so please excuse the errors you may find here.

Life is still good and 2015 is going to be a Happy  Healthy  New Year!

Thanks for all your  wonderful  comments they make my day!

Linda send me your  address  and Geoff will get the pattern to you sometime next week when he gets home.

The crocheted  item was a thimble holder with a wishbone crocheted in it. Aunt Geneva called it angel wings. I'd  never seen one before.
Happy New Year  everyone. ..I'll  try to post again  soon!  It's nap time for me.....

Happy Holidays! Having a GIVEWAY!

I've been doing a little stitching on a few projects.  This is a pin cushion from Primitive Gatherings. I love it. I bought it at Quilt Market.

I'm enjoying my journey. How are you enjoying yours?

I did a little holiday baking. This is a few of the loaves of Banana Bread. I am giving you the recipe.  I found it in my parents kitchen. I know the recipe book is at least 58 years old.
I love the recipe which is hand typed and 3 holed punched and bound with rings.

I've actually been doing a bit of painting for Christmas.  Here is one of the projects.

This is my Aunt Geneva.  She is 80 years old and blind. She is painting with me and we have enjoyed each other's company while making these projects. Of course we have been drinking a bottle of wine per day (no wonder we have so much fun!).

Here is the Star we painted and decorated for our doors.

Does anyone know what this is????? Geneva's mother made it for her. I have never seen one before. Have you? I want to hear your comments on this one!

I'm giving away a complete set of patterns (12) for my new Block of the Month "Beauty All Around".

Please leave comments. I will be drawing the lucky winner Dec. 21st.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm leaving tomorrow for St. George to get out of the Salt Lake inversion.  If you live here you know what I'm talking about.  Take care friends! Happy Stitching!

Houston 2014

We extended our stay in Houston this year.  It was a great experience at both Market and then Festival.  Several quilts were received well.  So many kind words of encouragement and support.  From the trip, to all the new faces, and  fun sights we did not miss a minute. This time away from home provided many opportunities for inspiration and helped me to polish a few ideas that have been percolating. I cannot wait to share them all with you soon.

Geoff's Mom booth.  Here you can see "Love Bunny Hop", "Grandpa George's Cabin" (82" x 89"), and glimpses of "A Grand Old Flag" as well as "Survivors" (70" x 90") to the right of the image.

New block of the month "Beauty All Around" (62" x 77").

Many thanks go out to a great, hard-working team.

One of many stops.

A whole truck of a favorite beverage.

Winner! To Market To Market...

Fall Quilt Market is right around the corner and as many of you know I'm busy, busy getting ready. I missed Spring Market so I am taking things I had ready to take to that show along with my new projects. These last few months have been busy but we are so excited to be making another trip to Houston. Gloria Parsons of Olde Green Cupboard is going to be in my booth this time helping me out. She is so much fun and what a kick.

Geoff and I are about finished with our new Block of the Month pattern called "Beauty All Around" which will be available for shops to buy at Quilt Market. I know I've shown you this before but we are so happy to show it to you again and get your comments. Would you like your local quilt shops to carry this pattern???? Many pre-orders are in the mail.

Glad to be home!
Here is a student from San Diego Quilt Show class "Land That I Love". We had so much fun! No time for much shopping (so sad), but visited lots of friends. (I even made time to have a date with an old boyfriend. Wow.  As the time flies by.)

Love my students. We had some great class giveaways. All had a super time. We shared finished projects and started a few more.

I have been planning a few quilting retreats. I didn't even have time to tell you all about the "Primitive Gatherings" group in April, 2015, and it is already filled up! If you would like to be placed on the waiting list let me know since I'm thinking about planning another one there as well. Friends from California, Arizona, Utah, and Florida all have been able to make time in April.

Upcoming sites include St. George, Utah, sometime soon. Is anyone interested in joining us?

I'm back on the road again tomorrow to teach a class in Page, Arizona. Then it is on to St. George to work on the new place. I'll be back home in Midvale in about 10 days. Hope you all are enjoying a wonderful day.

I just found you through, the Woolie Mammoth blog. Yay!
I love when I find a great new blog to read. This summer I've been working on a log cabin table mat, that I've been doing a lot of wool appliqué and embroidery on. Wool appliqué is new to me, I'm enjoying it. Also my LQS's BOM, its been a slow sewing summer. ;-> Toni Anne

Anne and  Toni Anne please email me with your addresses and two pattern choices: geoffsmompatterns@gmail.com

Here are a few pictures from the Camp Blanding Retreat in Jacksonville, FL.  It was so much fun and we laughed so hard and played even more.

This is a view off the dock of the lake house we stayed in. Did any of you watch "Army Wives" on tv. The retreat and house were on an Army Base and I felt like I was in the show. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!

The Lake is called Kingsley lake and it is perfectly round.

Here are Gloria (Old Green Cupboard Designs) and Mary Ellen (Red Crinoline Quilts) sewing and working away. (click on Red Crinoline for more retreat pictures and adventures)

Linda and Wynette are solving the problems of the world. ha ha. Linda was a super cook and Wynette runs housing at Camp Blanding.

Mary Ellen needed a power nap.

Our outing to Rachel's Farmhouse

The displays were incredible.

Love the pottery and the antique quilts.

A favorite quilt hanging.

This cute guy was hanging out wanting to be purchased.

Grandmother's flower garden was incredible.

I purchased a wonderful antique quilt I am currently reproducing. OMG! I think I have died and gone to quilt heaven.

Gloria had some wonderful bags on her website for sale. I couldn't resist a couple.

I will be teaching in San Diego at the Quilt Show and hanging out at Rosie's Calico Cupboard where she carries my complete line of quilt patterns. Lots of friends are sure to be there. The plan is to visit lots of quilt shops.

I'm still missing my dad but as I have found through wonderful friends and family life does go on and it is time to be happy and enjoy life because as we all know life is just way too short.

Thanks for visiting my blog and keep smiling and stitching.

Time for a GIVEAWAY!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in so long. I am in the process of purchasing another home in St. George, Utah. I love it there. Here is a picture of the front of the house  and below is a picture of the kitchen and great room space.

I will have a few things to do before moving in. There is no fence in the backyard for the puppies. There is some painting and light fixtures to change. The previous owners have moved out so it will make it easier to do everything I need to before moving in.

I finally finished it!  The new Block of the Month will be named:
"Beauty All Around"

Leaving here in a couple of days for Florida (in August am I crazy or what?). There is a quilt retreat with some wonderful quilting friends. I think while I am gone how about another GIVEAWAY! Two winners. Two patterns each!
(Drawing will be on Aug. 27th)
I love reading all your comments. Let me know what your sewing or working on this summer. Fall will be here before we know it!

Giveaway winners! New BOM in the works.

And the winners are:
Blogger Vivian said:
I'm joining the majority--I also like the name Weezer's Paws. It's a memorable, unique name, and I can just imagine little puppy toenails, leaning this direction and that direction in snow or mud.
Thanks for the giveaway.

Spelled differently, but now you have me laughing and recalling quotes from Ouiser in Steel Magnolias and remembering her St Bernard, Rhett.
Great Movie and Another Great Geoff's Mom pattern!

Send me your address and please choose a pattern and a book from the website and I will get them in the mail to you. I'm leaving town on Tuesday, Aug. 5th and returning Aug. 11th so might not get them in the mail before then if I don't hear from my lucky winners!

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. Here is what I have been working on. This is half of the quilt. I am hoping to get the quilt put together and to the quilter by next week. It is going to be called "Beauty All Around". It will be available as a Block Of The Month.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm heading to my cabin to enjoy the mountains for the weekend with great friends.

New Pattern Coming. Let's have a GIVEWAY.

I'm still working on a name for this new quilt. My girlfriend Louise wants it to go on her table so I'm thinking of naming it "Weezer's Paws", but I haven't decided for sure yet. I have plenty of time. Geoff still has to finish the pattern. Any suggestions? It's been crazy around here. I am trying to finish up cleaning out my dad's house but, boy, is there a lot of stuff. It makes me realize that I need to clean out my "stuff", too.

I want to giveaway a couple of patterns and a book or two. Leave your comments and I will draw for the winners on July 27th.

Patriotic July

"Land That I Love" is the name of this pattern.  I made this quilt quite awhile ago but it is one of my favorites. With July right around the corner I'm excited to get out some Patriotic decorations and enjoy the warm sunshine.

The two blocks shown above are made from my Dad's shirts. I found about 30 blue shirts and I am working on a new quilt. I thought you might like to see a preview. What do you think? I am going to be putting alternate blocks with these blocks.  I have been enjoying working with dad's shirts. It is like he is in my sewing room with me.

The last few weeks have been crazy around here. I put in for retirement from United Airlines (that was a bit scary after working there so long). Woo Hoo! It is time to have fun and devote my time to being "Geoff's Mom" pattern designer, company owner, and, of course, Geoff's mom.
I am also going to be moving. I get to be a "snowbird" and I can hardly wait. House hunting soon. I have to finish cleaning out my dad's house and sell it but that process seems to be moving right along. I am so grateful to have such wonderful supportive friends and family helping me.
